Knowledge Retrieval System (KRS) uses SPARC-based workstations to accessdatabases that contain both text and graphic information, such asreference manuals, technical documentation, and illustrated partscatalogs. KRS, used with magnetic or optical media, vastly improves theseexisting technologies.Graphic KRS makes extensive use of Hypertext and full-text searchfunctions -- such as and, or, not, string, proximity; and field-specific

to provide superior speed and flexibility of data retrieval. In

addition, if KRS is used with CD-ROM media, large volumes of data can beeasily and inexpensively stored, distributed, and reproduced.Graphic KRS' other utilities include bookmarks, path to document,document outline, references and citations listings, temporary updates,and dictionary. Graphics handling capabilities include pan, zoom, androtation.
